In light of the rapid decline in the number of coronavirus cases in New South Wales, the State Premier has announced school students WILL return to their classrooms this term... but only for one or two days a week. It's the latest announcement by a state leader about how they will approach getting kids BACK to school ... something that varies around the country.

For Sydney mum Rose Thanh, homeschooling her seven-year-old son Ethan has been a challenge.

But Ms Thanh is responsible for looking after her mother who is a diabetic, and is concerned if Ethan goes back to school, he could contract the virus, and spread it to his family.

But Ethan is one of thousands of New South Wales school children who will be allowed to return on May 11, beginning with just one day a week.

The New South Wales Premier made the announcement on Tuesday that students will learn online for the first three weeks of term 2, and then will begin returning slowly.

While Gladys  Berejiklian acknowledged school will not be business as usual, she said the government is implementing every measure they can to ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment.
