During the dinner, Mr. Morrison said that "It’s going to be an important few days," and added that ''there’s no better or stronger or deeper relationship than the United States and Australia."
"We work with our allies. We take care of our allies," said Mr Trump.
"And I think Australia is a good example. We’ve worked together very closely - just recently, on a big trade situation,'' he noted.
During the talks, Australia made it clear that it would like to see a resolution to the trade war that exists between the US and China, and has been afflicting other countries.
Speaking at the ABC'S AM, Australia's Finance minister, Mathias Cormann, who attended the event said that it ''was a warm and friendly dinner and of course, we made it very clear, in a friendly and constructive environment, that we were very keen to see those trade tensions resolved through a negotiated settlement and one which is consistent with World Trade Organization rules and which doesn't adversely impact on other parties like Australia''.
