Very few people have managed to enjoy the scenic beauty from the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. The latest addition to this list is a sister duo from Gujarat, who have successfully scaled the world's top peak, and managed to achieve it in their very first attempt.
After beginning their journey from Kathmandu on April 4th they reached their base camp on April 12th where the pair begin the actual scaling of Everest.
Then, on Wednesday, 25-year-old Aditi Vaidya, and her 21-year-old younger sister Anuja, became not only the first pair of sisters to reach the peak, but also the first women from the Indian state of Gujarat to do so.
Their father, Dr Anand - a mountaineer himself - expressed his feelings of his daughters' success to SBS Gujarati.
"After 40 days of scaling, they reached the second last destination, camp 3, situated at 8,300 meters. On Tuesday, May 21, at 6 pm IST, they took on the south side route for their final destination," he said.

"And, conquer the world's highest peak on Wednesday at 6 am IST," Dr Anand added.
“We were nervous”
Dr Anand, the proud father of the two girls, said, "We were connected with the base camp the whole night and received the latest details of their progress. But, as parents, we were a little bit nervous but we had faith in our daughters' abilities and their strong willpower”.
"When we received the news of our daughters reaching the top of Mount Everest, it brought tears of joy in our eyes."
"We are very proud of our daughter's success, we could not do it but Aditi and Anuja have fulfilled our dream," said the overjoyed father.

Mental-physical strength is a must
Dr Anand is also a professional mountaineer and has conquered various mountains in the Himalayan ranges throughout his career.
“Conquering Mount Everest is not everyone's cup of tea. It requires a mountaineer to be very strong both mentally and physically,” he said.
Every mountaineer has to undertake training before starting their journey where they are taught about the atmosphere, diet and various types of risks on their way to the Mount Everest.
"As daughters of a professional mountaineer, they have spent most of their summer vacations in the Himalayas climbing various peaks," Dr Anand said.
"Both of them were very serious about mountaineering and adventure sports since their childhood."
At the age of nine and six respectively, Aditi and Anuja went up to 5029 metres on Mount Rudragaira in Himalayan ranges.
