For our unique Australian report in Yiddish, with Alex Dafner...Two prominent Israelis visited Australia this week. Former Israeli Defence Minister and Chief of Staff, and candidate for Prime Minister in the next Israeli elections, Moishe Bugi Yaalon, met with Jewish Australian leaders and representatives of the Australian Government and Opposition. The former Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of Israel, currently Chief Rabbi of Tel-Aviv, and child survivor of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau visited the Melbourne Yeshiva and Beth-Rivka schools and attended their annual gala, where he stressed the vital role of education in Jewish and general life. Visiting Yazidi freedom campaigner 21 year old Nadia Murad, who saw her family slaughtered and who was captured and held as a sex-slave by IS-Daesh, met with the 88 year old survivor of the Holocaust, Luba Marczak in Sydney, from whom she took great comfort and courage in her campaign to free her people.
