Waverley Council in Sydney has met with the Jewish Organisation Friends of Refugees from Eastern Europe, over the fracas caused by a court decision to reject the organizations application for a new Synagogue in Bondi, to try to clarify, calm and move forward on the controversial issue.The Rabbinical Orthodox Beth-Din tribunals in Melbourne and Sydney have rejected the conversions to Judaism performed by the Ark Centre conversion program and have appealed to the unrecognized converts from the centre to get in touch, to take steps towards their process of becoming recognized by the world Jewish orthodox mainstream.Australias new ambassador to Israel Christopher Cannan formally presented his credentials to the Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in Jerusalem, during a very friendly meeting, which included the ambassadors twin sons and at which Rivlin expressed high praise for the longstanding Israeli-Australian friendship and debt owed to the ANZACs who helped free the land during WWI.
