The Australian Jewish community marked the International Holocaust Memorial Day on the 27th January and the Holocaust Museums in Melbourne and Sydney held special commemorations and exhibitions to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, with moving speeches by former camp inmates and Holocaust survivors. The Australian Jewish community has raised more than $6m for the bushfire appeal so far and $1m of those funds will go to students living in the bush fire effected areas to help them get back to school and tertiary studies as soon as possible.
