Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop expressed satisfaction with the news that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus acceptance of her invitation to visit Australia, the first time a sitting Israeli PM will do so to strengthen the bi-lateral ties between the two countries.Australian, Israeli and other countries representations paid tribute and laid wreaths at the monument of the ANZACs, who led the cavalry charge which liberated Beersheva in 1917, preempting the centenary ceremonies planned by Australia and Israel next year.Community commemorations in memory of the former Israeli Prime Minister, President and Nobel Laurate, Shimon Peres, eh, were held in Melbourne and Sydney, with the Israeli ambassador and other high ranking embassy representatives leading the tributes, dedications and prayers. The NSW Finance Minister Dominic Perrottet declared that State Governments would strengthen their laws against hate speech and incitement to violence, should the Federal Government decide to weaken or abolish the 18C section of its Racial Discrimination Act.
