For our weekly unique report in Yiddish with Alex Dafner....The court in Israel has ruled that Malka Leifer the former principal of the Addass Israel School in Melbourne, who is facing 74 charges of sexual abuse and assault against former students at the school, and who has so far avoided extradition on grounds of alleged mental illness, is to remain in custody at the psychiatric hospital until the next hearing of her case and whether she is to be extradited to stand trial in Australia. The Executive Council of Australian Jewrys YouGov Galaxy commissioned poll on Australians views regading Israel and the Palestinian Authority and the Israel and Palestinian conflict, has shown that there is little difference in the support for Israel between supporters of the Liberal and Labor parties. Sarah Saroni, the 92 year old survivor of the Holocaust, was key speaker at the Schools Holocaust Commemoration at Melbourne Grammar, an event which has been organised by the Ecumenical Interfaith Commission since 1993, and an indigenous student Jamarl Firebrace paid tribute to the Aboriginal leader William Cooper, who organised a protest petition against the Kristallnight pogrom in Germany and Austria in 1938.
