The Australian Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove, delivered a heartfelt tribute on behalf of all Australians in honor of Shimon Peres eh, at a meeting with the Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, after Peres funeral in Jerusalem.Australian Zionist organizations organised books of condolence for Shimon Peres in Melbourne and Sydney, in which the public could pay tribute to the late Israeli leader.The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and Jewish Community Council of Victoria passed strong resolutions against changes to the sections 18C and 18D of the Australian Racial Discrimination Act, citing the current form of the act as a powerful tool to combat antisemitism and racism in Australia.A booklet produced by the Labor Partys Friends of Palestine group, condemning the Jewish lobby and their organised trips for Labor Party members to Israel and the region, for being one-sided and biased, was in turn strongly criticized by Jewish leaders as being itself biased, short on facts and outright insulting.
