Australian Jewish roof representative bodies, such as the ECAJ, NSWBOD, JCCV and AIJAC made submissions to the Parliamentary Committee reviewing the Racial Discrimination Act, all arguing for the current retention of the 18C and 18D sections of the Act, in light of their experience of anti-Semitic expressions of hate in Australia today.Almost all Rabbinical organizations in Australia have come out against the Victorian Governments plans to make assisted dying, in cases of terminally ill patients, legal in that State.Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull was guest speaker at the Jewish Cares 80th Jubilee celebration in Sydney on the 11th December and recalled the founding of the organisation, so central to Jewish and humanist ethics, following the appeal by the London body to the Jews of Australia to help the German Jews who were suffering under the racist Nuremberg laws passed by Hitler and the Nazi regime in 1935.
