The Australian Federal Government has in their 2017 Budget extended the Safe Schools Program, with an allotment of $18m, of which, it is expected, nearly $10m will be allocated to Jewish Schools to help them cover their very high security expenditures.Two Jewish schools in Melbourne, Bialik College and Mt Scopus College, explained how a teacher working first at Bialik and since 2015 at Mt Scopus, was discovered making child pornography using photos of students at Bialik, and how they dealt with this unpleasant issue, prior to and after the arrest of the teacher by the police.The Victorian Government renewed its partnership with the Rabbinical Council of Victoria and granted them further funds for their work of building relationships between the Jewish and other religious communities in that state.The Jewish Lag BOmer festival is being celebrated in Australia, as it is throughout the Jewish world, with parades and bonfires.
