Disappointment over the cancellation of Israeli President Reuven Rivlins visit to Australia mid-March 2016 and expressions of hope it will be rescheduled soon, whilst FM Julie Bishop states that she hopes to visit Israel in the near future. A campaign led by Labors Michael Danby MP, questioning Australias lifting of sanctions against Iran is gaining momentum, with its referral to a Senate Committee allowing it to also garner submissions from the ECAJ, and broader Jewish and general community. The Holocaust themed Hungarian film Son of Saul was, as expected, awarded the Oscar for best foreign film for 2015, the second film with a Holocaust background in a row to win the prestigious award, following the Polish film Ida, as last years best foreign film at the Oscars.
