Alex Dafner Yiddish Report: "Heil Hitler salutes and Nazi symbols at St Kilda protests" 13.1.2019

Alex Dafner

Australian political and other leaders and Jewish community leaders strongly condemned the Heil Hitler salutes and Nazi symbols exhibited by the demonstrators protesting African youth violence on the St Kilda foreshore and critically questioned the participation of the QLD Senator Fraser Anning’s participation in the rally. The ECAJ and the Anti-Defamation Commission called for police action against the Antipodean Resistance group, which posted swastika leaflets on the gates of the Melbourne Emmy Monash Jewish home for the elderly that also houses residents who are Holocaust survivors. An Anglican priest Father Rod Bower apologised for a sign outside his Gosford NSW church, which read: “Manus is how the Holocaust started”, following criticism by the Jewish Board of Deputies of NSW. The Australia-Israel and Jewish Affairs Council’s exec director Colin Rubenstein expressed his gratitude to SBS for their attentiveness in correcting a recent SBS Website article about the Israel-Palestinian Conflict, that contained many incorrect assertions and historical errors.
