Australia's former ambassador to Israel, Dave Sharma talks about the latest hostage release

This week, we speak with the Honourable Dave Sharma, current Liberal Senator and former Australian Ambassador to Israel (2013–2017). During his tenure, Sharma presided over diplomatic affairs amid the 2014 Gaza conflict, known in Israel as Operation Protective Edge (Tsuk Eitan) an early and defining challenge in his ambassadorship. In this conversation, he offers measured insight into the latest hostage release, Donald Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan and whether it’s too early to speak of “peace.” Sharma also reflects on his own personal experience of living in Israel.
