SBS Yiddish report with Alex Dafner, 2.5.2021 Australian Jewish leaders and leading organisations have called for the Australian and Israeli governments to recognise the Armenian genocide as such, following the recognition of the genocide by US President Joe Biden last week. Israeli media are reporting that imminent charges will be lodged against the former Israeli Health Minister Yakov Litzman, who two years ago was accused of pressuring psychiatrists giving evidence in the hearings into the mental fitness of Malka Leifer to be extradited to Australia. Several Jewish Australians accepted the offer of dual citizenship with Austria, granted by that state to the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Austrian Jews murdered or exiled by the Nazis following the tragic events of 1938.
