The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) welcomed the new US Biden Presidency and suggested that it would continue some of the policies of the Trump administration regarding Israel, such as retaining the American Embassy in Jerusalem and encouraging normalization of relations between the Jewish State and Arab countries. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has vigorously condemned the sale of a Third Reich era Nazi flag at a Gold Coast auction and she was strongly supported by the Anti-Defamation Commission, who have been campaigning for the banning of such Nazi items from sale in Australia. The Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will head up an impressive list of speakers and participants, including Holocaust survivors, in the first ever Australia-wide online commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, on the 27th January 2021.
