SBS Yiddish Report with Alex Dafner: The Australian Government and Jewish leaders strongly criticised the UN Human Rights Council’s launch of a permanent inquiry into alleged Israeli human rights violations and war crimes, following last month’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Australian Jewish leaders were cautiously optimistic about the prospects of a new, very broad coalition government in Israel, which would include an Arab Israeli party, and which might lead to some healing in the politically riven Jewish State. Jews in Australia welcomed the election of Isaac Herzog as new Israeli President to replace the current President Reuven Rivlin on the 9th July, 2021. Residents in Jewish homes for the elderly finally received their first Covid-19 vaccination jabs following a three week delay and a precautionary lock-down in one of the homes, whilst Jewish leaders in Sydney received their vaccinations together with the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and urged all those able in the community to do the same, as soon as possible
