SBS Yiddish weekly update with Alex Dafner wishing you Chag Pessach Sameach

Passover Seder Night

Source: AAP

Many Jewish Passover Seder tables this year added an ice cube to the symbolic items at the banquet, following a campaign by the Jewish Climate Network that they consider this symbol to stimulate discussion around the climate crisis and to encourage innovative thinking, something that has enabled Jews to survive Egypt, exile and many other crises. A third Holocaust commemorative date, to be added to the International Holocaust Memorial Day and the Yom Ha’Shoah, has been proposed by two Jewish leaders, in order to honour the Holocaust survivors and to ensure better care and attention to their needs. A tombstone was finally unveiled and a Jewish funereal ceremony held over the previously unmarked grave at the Fawkner Cemetery in Melbourne, of Kurt Kriszhaber e”h, a Dunera ship Viennese refugee, who was sent to Australia in 1940 and died here at the age of 25 without family or funds for a tombstone.
