SBS Yiddish report with Alex Dafner The last six survivors, of the 900 boys liberated fr Buchenwald met in Melbourne. 18.4.2021 The Australian Jewish community mourned the passing in Jerusalem of Isi Liebler, e”h, one of their and the Jewish world’s most effective recent leaders, who amongst many other achievements will be remembered for his fight to free the Refusniks, Jews held in the Soviet Union jails and for the right of Soviet Jews to be able to emigrate to Israel and elsewhere. Malka Leifer who is awaiting trial in Melbourne over 74 charges of sexual abuse of students whilst she was the principal at the Addass-Israel girls’ school here, faced the 2nd committal mention at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, via video link, from the Victorian prison where she has been held since being extradited from Israel, to where she had flown in 2008. The last six survivors, of the 900 boys liberated from the notorious Buchenwald Nazi Concentration Camp on the 11th of April, 1945, were once again able to meet-up in Melbourne, to celebrate the date with their families, as they have done for decades, following an internet only meeting last year, due to the Covid restrictions in that state.
