Students of two of Melbourne’s Jewish schools, Bialik College and Mt Scopus College came first and second respectively in overall performance in this year’s VCE Year 12 exams in the whole of the state and other Jewish schools followed not far behind, with one Yiddish VCE student from Sholem Aleichem College achieving the highest ever result in the language since it became a VCE subject in 2006. The Liebler Yavneh College in Melbourne announced the appointment of its new principal Shula Lazar, a former leading teacher at the school and currently the principal of the Carmel School in Perth, who will begin her duties at the head of the school in the school year 2022.
