In Uttar Pradesh, India, a 115-year-old woman, Latto, and her five-year junior, Vidya Devi (110-year-old), exercised their franchise in Mathura and Hathras respectively during the first phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.

Latto was brought to the polling station on a cot by her neighbours.

She said - "It's the duty of every citizen to vote. I never thought that I would live to see a day like this."

In Baghpat's Chhaprauli area a 98-year-old woman, Sultani, cast her vote.

The Times of India reports that both women also appealed to all voters to cast their vote.
