39 Indians abducted in Iraq by ISIS now confirmed dead says Sushma Swaraj

India's External Affiars Minister Sushma Swaraj has confirmed that the 39 Indians who were abducted by ISIS in Mosul in Iraq in 2014 have been killed.

While speaking in the Parliament Mrs Swaraj explained how the Government conifrmed that the 39 Indian missing in Iraq were now confirmed dead. The process involved using a a deep penetration to locate human remains beneath a mound after which the bodies were exhumed and then DNA testing was done.

Mrs Swaraj profusely thanked the Government of Iraq and Martyrs Foundation, Iraq for helping in this process. Ms Swaraj also thanked Minister of State for External Affairs V.K. Singh for his efforts who will by flying to Iraq to get the mortal remains of the Indians killed by ISIS.

Mrs Swaraj requested the Rajya Sabha to pay tribute to the deceased after which Speaker of the House and Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu requested the House to observe two minutes silence.. The 39 Indians who were killed were from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
