An American magazine, The Cut, a part of New York magazine, has received a severe backlash after publishing an article titled ‘Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love For Real?’ by writer and comedian Mariah Smith.
Smith, in her long essay, accused Chopra of being a ‘global scam artist’.
"All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood’s latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist," the now-deleted article wrote.
In the essay, Smith goes on to comment on Chopra’s recent wedding celebrations with Jonas, on how the duo first exchanged details via Twitter, how Chopra’s team was ‘shopping around for the finer man’ and her ‘rich-person lifestyle’.
The article circulated widely on social media received a severe backlash, forcing the editors to take it down.

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor Ahuja said The Cut has “a lot to answer for.”
“The article on @priyankachopra was sexist, racist and disgusting,” she continued. “Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness.”
Chopra and Jonas, as well as the author of the now-defunct piece Smith, are yet to comment on the article and its aftermath.
