Rakesh Bedi! A name synonymous with an amazing histrionic talent on stage, films and TV. He is best known for his film Chashme Baddoor and TV serial Ye Jo Hai Zindagi.
Rakesh is also a writer and director of substance. Although he is a born actor, he believes that this innate art needs to be honed because besides the "Art" you also need the "craft"! He himself trained at Film and Television Institute, Pune.
On being asked about the genre of the plays he has written Rakesh though popular as a comedian says that his plays are very serious but they are punctuated with a laugh every minute. He talks about a recent play he has written called Shimla Coffee House," which he describes as a psycho-comic thriller that makes you laugh and cry at the same time.
Elaborating on the difference between acting on stage, TV and films, Rakesh feels that a stage actor has to be very fit and have strong reflexes. He is of the opinion that the special bond between the audience and performer on stage is unbeatable.
In a parting message Rakesh wishes there would be love and peace on this planet which is the only one inhabited by living beings. He is against divisions of caste, religions and other differences created by us human beings. Well said, Rakesh Bedi!
