A plea of help via Twitter brought the issue to the notice of Civil Aviation Minister Mr Suresh Prabhu. Air India’s officials came into action after the tweet and the stranded family was give some assistance.
Founder of Elixir Foundation Mr Madhish Parikh tweet a plea for help explaining the plight of the family. This happened after many others had tweeted about this with no results.
“Australian Citizens travelling from Ahmedabad to Delhi by Air India delayed by three hours because of Vibrant Gujarat (Summit) and missed their connecting flight to Australia by China Southern Airlines. With no help, they are sick at Delhi Air Port since yesterday,” Mr Parikh tweeted.
Minister Mr Suresh Prabhu directed the officials to “look into it immediately.”
Air India Officials came into action and moved the family to a hotel.
“Dear Sir, Air India has been providing all necessary support in view of the health condition of the Children. Our Delhi airport team is in constant touch with Pax & China Southern Airline on which they were originally booked. We assure that all necessary assistance will be given,” a tweet by Air India reads.
However, the family complained in a video that officials moved to them to the hotel and no help was provided after that.
One of the passengers Ms Kanan Shah said in a video, "After all the pressure, they put us in a hotel room. They promised us on the first available flight tonight, which was China Southern. Now they are telling us that we cannot put you on that one. It seems that they have just driven us away from the airport."
