Australia based Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Gurjit Kaur, was robbed while she was visiting India and was on her way to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Gurjit Kaur had reached Darbar Sahib on Sunday in the noon and after coming out, was clicking pictures when two people on bike allegedly snatched her purse.

Kaur claimed her purse contained 5,000 Australian dollars, 500 US dollars, Rs 10,000 in Indian currency besides a mobile and jewellery.

Kaur told local media that she was made to wait for hours at the Kotwali police station before police registered her complaint.

The Tribune reports the police official at the police station asked her to lodge a lost complaint rather than a snatching case.

Police Commissioner SS Srivastava told The Tribune a case had been registered and the matter was under investigation.
