International education enrolments have gone up by 11% in the first seven months of the year, compared to the entirety of last year, The Australian reports.
International education is Australia’s third biggest export earner and despite recent reports of ‘student visa backlog’, the numbers are soaring.
Federal Education Department is expected to release data today which says that Australian education providers have attracted almost as many students between January and July this year as throughout the entirety of last year.
The department says Australia has welcomed 493,700 international students by July compared to 497,500 during the entire 2015 calendar year.
While China tops the list of countries from where the international students have arrived, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Africa form a significant chunk too.
