I extend to the Indian community, in Australia and around the world, my warmest wishes to all those who are celebrating the festival of Holi.

A colourful celebration of life, love and thanksgiving, Holi is a brilliant occasion to celebrate with family and to renew our bonds of friendship and goodwill with one another.

While the Gulal is thrown, we can acknowledge the celebration of Holi as a demonstration of Australia being the most successful multicultural society in the world.

I also wish to extend my greetings to those celebrating Holi in India. Our two great democracies are strengthened by countless people-to-people links and a shared commitment to democracy, the rule of law and mutual respect.

I wish everyone celebrating a Happy Holi.

As Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, it is my pleasure to wish a happy Holi to all Australians who are celebrating the annual Hindu festival of colours.

Holi is one of the most exuberant festivals in the Hindu calendar celebrating inclusiveness, friendship and peace. Friends, strangers, Hindu and non-Hindu, are all brought together during Holi, further strengthening the harmony and goodwill across diverse cultures.

Best wishes to everyone celebrating Holi Mela, one of India’s biggest celebrations.

This festival of colours is inspiring in its message of friendship, harmony, forgiveness and the triumph of good over evil.

The festival’s program of music, dance and spiritual activities brings us the best of contemporary Indian culture.

More than 200,000 people of Indian ancestry live in NSW, and I thank the community for their positive contribution to the State.
