The 28th edition of International Kite Festival in Ahmedabad was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
The festival is being celebrated since 1989. Ms. Patel claimed that the festival has boosted the kite-making industry in Gujarat as well as attracted tourists in the State over the years.
The international festival is popular world over and attracts thousands of tourists to Gujarat from across the world.
“Thanks to this festival, the kite-making business in Gujarat has grown from Rs 100 crore to Rs 700 crore within last 10 years. It has helped all those who are in the business of making kites and other related products,” Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel said.
The inaugural function was held at iconic Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.

98 kite flyers and enthusiasts have arrived from 29 different countries including Australia, US, UK to participate in this festival
55 Kite flyers from 8 states of India and 28 kite flyers from Gujarat will showcase their creative kites at the festival.
Participating countries include Australia, U.S., the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Netherlands, Singapore, Turkey, Vietnam, Poland, Argentina, Brazil and many others.
Gujarat state government has simultaneously organised such kite festival in other cities including Botad, Porbandar, Mandvi, Surendranagar, Khambhat and Modhera.
