Legendary Indian music composer Khayyam has passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai, India.

Ghazal singer Talat Aziz told local media the 92-year-old musician had passed away due to a cardiac arrest.

The artist was admitted to hospital for age-related illness after he collapsed at his home on July 28th, the Indian Express reported on Tuesday.
Mohammed Zahur Khayyam Hashmi, popularly called Khayyam in the Indian film industry, is known for his music compositions for films like Kabhi Kabhi and Umrao Jaan and many more in his illustrious career spanning five decades.

He won the National Film Award for Umrao Jaan and won the iconic Filmfare awards for Umrao Jaan and Kabhi Kabhi.

He was bestowed with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2007 and Padma Bhushan in 2011.
Tributes flowed in from Prime Minister of India, President of India, the film industry and fans for the music maestro.
