Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shiv Raj Singh personally graced the occasion which was attended by members of third gender community and even their Guru. For some it was an occasion of equality but for almost every one of them it was a moment of their identity.
Now with an exclusive public utility centre for third gender they will be spared from the staring eyes of people. It used to be an awkward whenever they used toilets meant for male or female. Now, they can use their own space without restriction.
Muskan, a third gender community member from Bhopal claimed, "We are thankful to the government for recognising us. This is a very good step and we appreciate it."
Additional Municipal Commissioner of Bhopal Municipal Corporation M P Singh stated that these people were in a dilemma - which toilet to use. We received such complaints. "Our Mayor Alok Sharma is very receptive to their issues. On his instructions we undertook this step. Presently, we have opened one such centre in their locality, if there is demand, we will open another one," he said.
Right now, it is a moment of joy for the third gender community members as they thronged the public utility centre, some of them even to have a look at the mirror and gaze at themselves.
