BJP MLA accused of ‘beating up’ a horse during a protest

Dehradun Police told the local media that the horse’s leg might be amputated.

BJP MLA from Uttarakhand state, Ganesh Joshi has been accused of attacking a police horse while his political party was out on the streets to protest against the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

The protest took a violent turn during which the BJP MLA was seen hitting the horse with a stick.

"It is seen in the video footage that the horse was hit by the MLA (Ganesh Joshi)," Dehradun SSP Sadanand Date told the media present there.

The injured horse was taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment where the doctor-in-charge said, “The metatarsal bone of the horse's left leg has broken.”

Dehradun Police told the local media that the horse’s leg might be amputated.

However, BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi, in his defense said, that police, while lathicharging protestors, injured the said horse.
