UPDATE:
The Police Bomb Squad has cleared Dandenong railway station of any safety threat at 11.45am.
The squad’s robot inspected two suspicious packages. A man remains in police custody over the incident, a police spokeswoman said.
“Nothing has been found while officers conducted safety checks.”
A Metro Trains spokeswoman said trains have resumed normal service but for 15-minute “residual delays”.
Earlier today:
Dandenong Station in Melbourne’s South East has been evacuated following a bomb threat.
The Police bomb response unit is on site and is investigating two suspicious packages.
Eye witnesses have described that the police has cordoned off the area, police cars are on scene and a huge machine has been brought in to assess the threat.
Two packages were noticed lying near the bus stop located right outside the Dandenong station.
A man has been arrested following the bomb scare.
Both the train lines – Cranbourne and Pakenham, have been suspended while the operation is underway.
