A man travelling in a Silver Service Taxi got off at the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Friday morning and climbed the bridge sparking police operation.
ABC reported that a police operation was underway after police several calls.
"Officers from Harbourside Local Area Command attended and located a man, who had climbed a section of the bridge, and refused to come down," a police statement said.
"A police operation was launched, with the assistance of Police Rescue, police negotiators, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, and the Motorcycle Response Team."
The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for assessment.
Ian Wallace from the Traffic Management Network told ABC, "We have this person, he's climbed up onto the Harbour Bridge, I can actually see him sitting up there at the moment. He climbed the fourth [pylon] along and got himself up into the bridge."
The incident caused traffic chaos as three citybound lanes were closed during the police operation.
The lanes have since reopened.
