Breaking News: Passengers injured during turbulence; being treated at Sydney Airport

Emergency services are at Sydney Airport treating passengers injured after their aircraft hit heavy turbulence on Tuesday noon, just after 2.30pm.

Paramedics were called to Sydney international airport after a plane struck turbulence that left several passengers injured.

ABC reported that three people — two of them elderly — were among those who required medical attention.

It is believed there were 30 people on board the plane, which landed safely.

Sydney Airport confirmed this in a tweet.

Nine News reported that a China Eastern Airlines flight hit severe turbulence during Sydney Airport landing.

The China Eastern Airlines plane travelling from Kunming, China, was in its landing phase when it hit turbulence about 2.45pm AEDT.
