Breaking News: RMIT University evacuated in Melbourne CBD

(STORY UPDATED) Several buildings have received threats.

RMIT University located in Melbourne CBD has evacuated several buildings at it’s campus and called in police to investigate several “threats”.

RMIT’s Chief Operating Officer Dionne Higgins issued a statement saying RMIT has received threats relating to several buildings (11, 13, 55, 56 and 57).

The matter has been referred to Victoria Police.

“As a precaution, these buildings and immediate surrounds will be closed until further notice while security sweeps take place.

“Classes and exams in those buildings are being rescheduled.
Victoria Police confirmed the development and said safety checks are being conducted at RMIT following alleged threats.

UPDATE:

RMIT has re-opened several buildings on City Campus, which were temporarily closed as a precaution following threats received by the University.


Victoria Police is investigating the matter.
