Indian-American stand-up comedian Hasan Minhaj has come under fire for taking a jibe at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Twitter users have called for a Netflix boycott after the US-born Indian-origin comedian took a dig at the Prime Minister and the current state of Indian elections in his latest episode of Netflix’s Patriot Act.
At the onset, he admits that discussing Indian politics is a risky mission.
The episode begins with elderly Indian ‘Uncle and aunties’ warning him about speaking out.
“Are you out of your mind?,” “You are going to make millions of people angry,” “You will be no more,” sound the warnings.
But Minhaj doesn’t heed the advice.
In the 25-minute episode, Minhaj compares Modi with US President Donald Trump, points out the ‘Hindu’ country narrative which has gained momentum in last five years to unfit RSS swayamsevaks and even talks about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

There has been a mixed response to the episode. Many have called it "clever" and "witty" but there have also been calls for boycotting Netflix, as Minhaj himself predicts.
