Indian media reports Sanjay Dutt has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which has been confirmed by many of his co-stars.

Mr Dutt's wife Maanayata has said that the family has faced testing times in the past as well and that she is confident that 'this too shall pass', in a statement.
"However, it is my heartfelt request to Sanju's fans to not fall prey to speculations and unwarranted rumours but to help us with their ongoing love, warmth and support.

"Sanju has always been a fighter, and so has our family. God has yet again chosen to test us to overcome the challenges ahead. All we seek is your prayers and blessings, and we know we will emerge as winners on the other side, as we always have. Let us use this opportunity to spread light and positivity," said Ms Maanayata.Sanjay Dutt was admitted to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai on 8 August after feeling respiratory problems.
He tweeted on 9 August that his COVID-19 report was negative and he was doing well.
"Just wanted to assure everyone that I'm doing well. I'm currently under medical observation & my COVID-19 report is negative. With the help & care of the doctors, nurses & staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two," tweeted Mr Dutt who turned 61 on 29 July this year.

However, on 11 August, he took it to social media to announce about his break from work for "some medical treatment."
Many of his co-stars and personalities from the various field have wished Sanjay Dutt good health.
Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who himself has battled with cancer in the past sent his prayers on twitter.
"You are, have and always will be a fighter. I know the pain it causes, but I also know you are strong and will see this tough phase through. My prayers and best wishes for your speedy recovery" tweeted Mr Singh.
Sanjay Dutt's co-star in his upcoming film Sadak 2, Pooja Bhatt shared the film's trailer on Twitter, dedicating it to him, "Sanju... This one's for you!"
Another Bollywood star Urmila Matondkar tweeted, "Such an upsetting n horrible news that @duttsanjay has been diagnosed of lung cancer..but then again he has been such a fighter all his life..here is wishing him a speedy recovery (sic)."
Son of actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis, Sanjay Dutt has worked in more than 160 films in his career spanning over four decades. He was featured in Rocky in 1981.
Sanjay Dutt has spent six years in jail at different times. He was arrested in April 1993 in connection with the Mumbai terror attack in 1992. In July 2007, he was cleared of the charges relating to the terror attacks, however, sentenced to six years' rigorous imprisonment for illegal possession of weapons.
He was released from the Jail on 25 February 2016 after serving his sentence.
