Commonwealth Games: Indian boxing team doctor handed a "strong written reprimand"

Indian boxing team doctor has been handed a "strong written reprimand" after the federation court found him breaching the Commonwealth Games Federation's (CGF) no-needles policy in the athletes village at the Gold Coast.

The Federation Court, chaired by Richard Powers (Canada) determined the CGF should issue a "strong written reprimand" to Dr Amol Patil.

Dr Patil, who is visiting the games for the first time, had injected a vitamin B complex to an athlete. He left the needles in the room while he had gone to obtain sharp bins for the disposal of needles.
