Surender Kumar works as a tea seller. He sells tea in the court complex of the sub-divisional magistrate in Nakodar town of Jalandhar (Punjab).
Like any father, Surinder wanted his daughter to get educated and lead a dignified life. He was confident that his hardworking daughter will, one day, achieve something big and make him proud. But never in his dreams, he thought that his daughter will go on to become a judge in the same court where he sells tea.
His 23-year-old daughter Shruti passed the Punjab Civil Services (Judicial) Examination in the first attempt, and after a year’s training at the academy, she will now take the position of a Judge at Jalandhar Court, the same court where his father has sold tea, all his life.
While speaking to Indian newspaper, Deccan Herald, Shruti said its a dream come true. “I always wanted to be associated with the legal profession. I wanted to be a judge. I sat for the examination and stood first in the SC category,” she said.
