It's an infrequent occasion. On 31st January make sure you look at the night sky. There is going to be a Super Blue- Blue Moon and   Blood moon. For the first time in 150 years, three phenomena are happening at the same time.

Super Moon:
A supermoon is when the moon comes closest to the earth in its orbit. The moon doesn’t travel in a circle around the earth but instead moves in an egg shape. Two or three times a year there is a closer meeting between the two bodies. Although we have a run on at the moment – there was one in December, one on January 31, and another coming in March.

“A supermoon tends to be 30 percent brighter and 7 to 14 percent larger than average,” says Narendra Gor, Educator at Indian Planetary Society.

Blue Moon:
A Blue Moon is when two full moons happen in the same calendar month.

Blood Moon:
People can see the Earth’s shadow, the curve of the planet edging itself onto the surface of the moon as the eclipse begins.

A total lunar eclipse that is also known as a Blood moon. This is when the earth sits between the sun and the moon the earth's atmosphere filters out most of the sun's light, leaving just red to shine on the moon hence the name Blood moon.

In Sydney, the partial eclipse will begin at 10.48pm with the moon gradually getting darker until it reaches total eclipse that will last from 11.51pm to 1.07am, peaking at 12.29am. During this time the moon will take on a rusty or blood red color. By 2.11am the partial eclipse will end, and the moon will return to its bright Blue Supermoon state.
