Former aged care worker, Manjula Kempster has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $150,000 from an elderly man in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Herald Sun reports Ms Kempster pleaded guilty to three charges of fraud before the Magistrate Suzanne Cameron.
She has been charged with allegedly swindling an elderly man out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in Melbourne to fund her lavish lifestyle.
Ms Kempster of Moorabbin, who worked as a carer allegedly, obtained funds through fraud from the man she was caring for.
The court heard she had written and cashed dozens of cheques ranging from hundreds of dollars to more than $11,000 in the name of her frail elderly former client Raymond Woff, who has since died.
She then allegedly took these fraudulent cheques to the man’s wealth management company for getting the money transferred to her own bank account.
Police prosecutor Alex Albert told the court there were more cases to be investigated before Ms Kempster appears again in the County Court next year.
Ms Kempster will appear again at Melbourne County Court on April 12, 2018.
