Counting continues as none of the major parties have been able to secure an absolute majority to form the next government.
PM Malcolm Turnbull on early Sunday morning said he has "every confidence" the Coalition will be able to form a majority government.
But till now, there’s no certainty as to who is forming the next government.
Counting of votes is likely to continue till Tuesday and analysts suggests it could be days before the final result is known.
Several Indian-origin candidates fought this election and here’s how they have fared.
Alex Bhathal – Greens candidate from Batman, Victoria has given a tough fight to Labor. Greens are confident of Alex Bhathal's win at Batman. And if you look at counting chart, you sure would think so too.

Mohit Kumar – Liberal candidate from Chifley, NSW, Mohit Kumar told SBS Hindi while campaigning that he was ready to serve the community and make a difference at policy-making level. Guess he will have to wait a little longer as his opponent and Labor candidate Ed Husic won by almost double votes this election.

Mahesh Raj – Indian-origin Mahesh Raj fought from the electorate of Parramatta which has a significant Indian population. However Labor’s Julie Owens seems to have retained her seat for the fifth time in row.

Billu Avtar Singh and Vivek Singha – While Billu Avtar Singh fought this election as an independent from the electorate of Greenway, another Indian-origin candidate Vivek Singha represented the Science Party. Both lost to Labor’s sitting MP Michelle Rowland.

Shashi Bhatti – Bhatti jumped into electoral fray to fight as a Labor candidate just weeks before the elections from the electorate of Gippsland. He lost to Nationals candidate Darren Chester.

Des Soares – The only Indian part of Nick Xenophen’s team was Des Soares who fought the election from Moreton, QLD. He did swing 4.78% votes in his favour but it wasn’t enough to win the electorate.
