34-year-old P. Niranjan Jayant has been jailed for three weeks, Strait Times reported. He pleaded guilty to molesting a Singaporean female crew.
A 25-year-old woman was a crew member on Scoot Tigerair flight travelling from Sydney to Singapore in August this year. Mr Niranjan was flying in the business class. It was alleged that Jayant touched the crew member with his left hand when she was working in the gallery.
The flight attendant moved away, and Niranjan told her she was beautiful before returning to his seat, the court heard.
Deputy Public Prosecutor James Chew said: "Subsequently, during the flight, the accused went up to approach the victim at the front galley a few times to request for the victim's phone number. The victim ignored these requests," Strait Times reported.
Before landing, Mr Niranjan approached the woman again and molested her. He requested her phone number repeatedly, the court heard.
Later, the woman lodged a report at the Changi Airport Terminal 2 police post.
Mr Niranjan told the District Judge Lim Tse Haw that the offence was committed in the state of intoxication.
"I can't handle my drink," said Jayant according to the Strait Times. He said he was remorseful and pleaded for leniency.
