Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah's grandfather, Santok Singh Bumrah's dead body was found in Sabarmati River on Sunday.

84-year-old Santok was in the city to meet his grandson Jasprit, according to media reports. He was missing since Friday. His family members had filed a missing report with the Vastrapur police.

"He expressed a wish to meet his grandson on his birthday on December 5. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to meet Jasprit. On December 8, Santok called his son Balvinder Singh, who lives in Jharkhand, and told him that he was leaving to meet his deceased wife," the complaint said.
Santok Singh was a successful businessman once. He owned three factories in Gujarat during the 80s and the 90s, according to the Deccan Chronicle. Later he sold the business and moved to Uddham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand after his son, Jasprit Bumrha’s father Jasvir died. He used to drive an Auto Rickshaw in Uddham Singh Nagar.

According to the missing person’s report filed by Santok Singh’s daughter Rajinder Kaur, Jasprit Bumrah’s mother refused to meet him and did not share number of her son, the Indian Express reported.

The complaint said, “Santok Singh was hurt and left the house and never returned to his own house.”
