Indian surgeons have removed a massive brain tumour of a 31-year-old Indian man on Thursday, NDTV reports.
The 1.87 kg brain tumour was removed during the surgery that lasted over seven hours at Mumbai’s BYL Nair hospital.
The removed tumour is believed to be the heaviest ever recorded.
31-year-old shopkeeper Santlal Pal from the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, had been living with the tumor for three years. He had been told by doctors in at least three hospitals in his home state that the tumor was inoperable.
He had been carrying around a tumour weighing nearly two kilos before the surgery on February 14.
"It was an extremely daunting and complex surgery," said Dr Nadkarni, head of neurosurgery at Mumbai's BYL Nair hospital.

"After the patient regained consciousness, we researched and concluded this was the world's heaviest tumour to be reported so far."
The brain tumour had affected Pal’s vision and gave him constant headaches.
"It was a rare operation and the patient has survived. Before the surgery, he had minimal vision, which may improve now," Dr Nadkarni said.
The hospital said the patient had made a good recovery and was now walking and eating normally.
