An Indian food truck has gone missing in Melbourne.

Owners have appealed for information about a plain-white large food truck equipped with kitchen white goods which was stolen from Hoppers Crossing in Melbourne’s West on early Tuesday morning.

“The van was fitted with kitchen goods and the branding was still to be done when it was stolen,” Shailesh Patel, owner of Desi Chatka Indian Street Food told SBS Hindi.

The restaurant has three branches across Melbourne and was about to launch their fourth in Epping, Melbourne’s North on Thursday when their truck was stolen.

The owners claim they had equipped the truck with two gas stoves, refrigerator, two microwaves, sound system and cameras.

“Only signage was remaining. We were to launch on Thursday but now it has been set back by three to four months, if we don’t find it,” Mr Patel said.

The truck is estimated to cost around $60,000.

While a police complaint has been made, the owners have urged the Indian community to help share their message.

“Our lease has started and we will have to bear the cost till we are able to open it. Please let us know if you spot it anywhere,” Mr Patel said.
