An Indian-origin man in Connecticut, US has been arrested after his one-month-old child, Ayaan Patel was found dead inside the car.
34-year-old Divya Patel was charged with Risk of Injury and Tampering with Evidence after he allegedly failed to seek medical care for his son after realising that the infant was unresponsive and could be dead.
NBC Connecticut reports the state police received a 911 call on November 18th from a mother stating that her 1-month-old was not breathing.
She told police that the child was with his father in a car parked at a hotel, Residence Inn.
When the officers arrived, they were unable to locate Mr Patel or the child.
They called him on his mobile phone but Patel was uncooperative and would not tell police his location, the report states.
After about 30 minutes, Mr Patel returned to Residence Inn where officers located the unresponsive child.
The child was rushed to Connecticut Children's Medical Centre in Hartford but was pronounced dead.
The cause of infant's death is yet to be determined.
During their investigation, police learned that Patel was aware his child had died and he did not render aid or seek emergency care.
Mr Patel is being held on a $ 1 million bond.
He appeared in court on Monday and is due back in court on December 5.
Investigation continues.
