Indian man critical after being bashed with baseball bat

New Zealand Police have appealed to the public for help to identify a 25-year-old who is critical after being beaten with a baseball bat in south Auckland.  

Manukau Police said he is in a critical condition in Auckland City Hospital.

The man was left severely beaten on the footpath at approximately 10.20pm on Tuesday on a road in Takanini, Auckland, Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Bright, Counties Manukau Police, said.
He was wearing a grey collared shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers with white soles.

He is believed to be of Indian descent. 

Police is yet to contact his family as they have not been able to identify him. 

Detective senior sergeant Karen Bright said police wanted to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who knew who the man was.
