An Indian IT worker has died in a car crash in New Zealand.
27-year-old Neeraj Sharma was returning to Auckland from a work-trip to Taupo, when his car crashed into a truck at State Highway 27, north of Matamata, in the Waikato district, in New Zealand on March 20th.
The Serious Crash Unit attended to Sharma who was critically injured and rushed him to the hospital, where he breathed his last on Friday.
“Police can now confirm a man has died following a crash on State Highway 27, north of Matamata, on Wednesday 20 March.
“Neeraj Sharma, 27, died in hospital on Friday 22 March,” the New Zealand Police said in a statement.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the two-vehicle crash are ongoing, the police said.
Sharma, who hailed from Haryana, was working as an IT technician, on a work visa in New Zealand. He arrived in the country seven years ago as a student.

The Indian community in New Zealand has come to the aid of the family in distress.
His cousin, Ashwini Kumar with the help of Bharatiya Samaj Charitable Trust, is working towards repatriating his mortal remains to India.
Mr Jeet Suchdev of the Bharatiya Samaj Charitable Trust told SBS Hindi all arrangements had been made to send his body to his family in India.
“We were approached by Mr Sharma’s cousin and in such unfortunate circumstances, we have arranged for repatriating his body to his family in India,” Mr Suchdev told SBS Hindi.
“His mortal remains are currently in a funeral home in Auckland and we will be sending it on Saturday.
“We were helped by the Accident Compensation Corporation and the Indian High Commission who have raised funds to arrange this. The Indian High Commission was very co-operative,” Mr Suchdev, said.
